Dayton Law Review Symposium on Grutter v. Bollinger and Law School Admissions

The University of Dayton Law Review will be hosting a live symposium from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. on March 23, 2006 in the Courtroom at the University of Dayton School of Law.  This symposium will feature two authors who wrote contrasting articles on the controversial U.S. Supreme Court decision, Grutter v. Bollinger, 539 U.S. 306 (2003).  This case dealt with the use of racial preferences in law school admissions.  The authors of these articles are Dr. Martin Carcieri from the University of Tennessee (Knoxville), and the senior editors of the University of Michigan Journal of Race & Law.

At the live symposium, Dr. Carcieri and the senior editors of the University of Michigan Journal of Race & Law will focus their debate and discussion on these central questions:

"Based on Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, constitutional jurisprudence, and public policy considerations: Was Grutter v. Bollinger decided correctly?  Are race-blind law school admissions required or appropriate under the law?"

One hour of CLE credit will be offered for this event.
